Defensive Skills Practice Course

Practice makes perfect…Join us online on Wednesday evenings 6:30-8:30 pm

Defensive skills need to be developed and practiced. This 9 week course focuses on the defensive skills that were introduced in the Defense in the 21st Century class. Each week we will examine a defensive strategy the we will bid, play and defend an average of 6-8 hands. While the primarily focus is on defensive tactics and skills bidding and declarer strategies will also be discussed. No partner necessary to register.

Dates: May 29, June 4, 11, 18, 25, July 2, 9, 16, 23

Week 1: 
Defense topic: Opening leads vs. no trump contracts

Week 2: 
Defense topic: Opening leads vs. trump contracts

Week 3: 
Defense topic: Third hand play

Week 4: 
Defense topic: Second hand play

Week 5: 
Defense topic: Defensive signals: Attitude, count, suit preference

Week 6: 
Defense topic: Defensive cooperation to take your tricks

Week 7: 
Defense topic: Making it difficult for declarer to take tricks incl. hold up, attaching entries

Week 8: 
Defense topic: Defender’s PLAN

Week 9: 
Defense topic: Tying it all together
