Description
You are the opener or responder and have a better than minimum hand. How do we communicate our hands and find the best contract?

This course will focus on opening 1 heart and 1 spade and the continuing auction. What does the responder do with a minimum, medium, or maximum hand? How does the opener interpret the responder’s bid? How does the auction continue? 

Each week the facilitator will introduce the topic and then participants will bid, play and discuss hands related to the topic of the day. Handouts and hand records will be provided.

Week 1: 
Medium Opener Hand: Invitation options and help suit game try
Partner makes a single raise of your major, you have a medium hand what invitational bid do you make?

Week 2: 
Responder has medium hand
How do we show the hand?

Week 3: 
Handling competition
Preemptive raises, game tries, including the weak freak, and the redouble after an opponent’s double.

Week 4: 
Putting it all together.

Technical Requirements:

Internet capable device (computer or tablet recommended) and zoom.

All classes will be hosted on zoom and use the bridge playing program Shark Bridge. Participants do not need to purchase Shark Bridge; it is used for free through the facilitator’s account.
