Description
Bergan raises help the responder describe the shape and strength of their hand with support after their partner opens 1 heart or 1 spade. It allows us to show he number of supporting cards (3 vs. 4) and the strength of their hand.

This course will focus on the core concepts and applications of Bergen raises and the continuing auction. 25 Bridge Conventions You should Know, updated version, chapter 13 will provide the base for instruction with supplemental materials provided.

Each week the facilitator will introduce the topic and then participants will bid, play and discuss hands related to the topic of the day. Handouts and hand records will be provided.

Week 1: 
Law of Total Tricks & Introduction to responder Bergen Raises and opener’s rebid.

Week 2: 
Handling Interference & Practice

Week 3: 
What to do with a 5+ card fit?

Week 4: 
Putting it all together.

All classes will be hosted on zoom and use the bridge playing program Shark Bridge. Participants do not need to purchase Shark Bridge; it is used for free through the facilitator’s account.
